Some days I come into the studio and stare at my c Some days I come into the studio and stare at my computer screen, trying to figure out what I want to do, usually due to an overabundance of choices. And some days, like today, I decide to take on the world. There is carrageenan resting and paints coming to room temp so I can make sample pics for a marbling class, the UV printer is doing the rest of my door signs, the xTool F2 Ultra UV is engraving a glass pendant, and I'm learning how to print and cut shrink plastic on the xTool M2 and bake it in the Wonderpress. Just about to marble on canvas pouches and pencils for examples of my last-minute back-to-school activity. I think I may also engrave their names on the pencils and maybe have them make shrink plastic charms to use as zipper pulls. Sounds like a fun afternoon to me, anyway! In a quiet moment, a colleague helped me cut my logo out of 2mm stainless steel on the Metal Fabl. I was asked to engrave another tumbler (I spent 2.5 hours engraving tumblers on Monday!), which turned out really cute. And now I'm taking a few moments of quiet before supporting a workshop with some business card engraving. The Upcycle Challenge today was a delight! The mys The Upcycle Challenge today was a delight! The mystery items were fringed Christmas trees, which I forgot to take a picture of... But each participant brought something special to the event and our judges had a hard time choosing a winner. Everyone embraced the spirit of the event! In the end, Quinn won with her flapper girl doll. The judges appreciated that she used a variety of techniques, including hand-sewn legs, but she also managed to "transform" her item without really changing the structure. But Carrie did a full transformation with her Paris fascinator. Jodi honored a friend with an ocean-themed makeover. And Dawn had the most creative use of materials with flowers for hair and a dog costume for the body structure! Huge thanks to the winners and to our guest judges @nikkis_rabbit_hole, @makesharerepeat and @lethes.bramble! Can't wait to do it again. #indigowhimsy #Whimsy #upcycle #createsomethingnew
